Sky Bet Oscar Odds: Will The Best Actress Cry?

Sky Bet is offering odds in all of the major categories for the 2010 Oscars, however they have also produced a number of special novelty Academy Awards bets for what could happen on the star studded night.

The online bookmaker have made Sandra bullock a favourite to win Best Actress, however they have also priced her at 5/2 to cry during her acceptance speech. A market is available at 5/1 for both the lead and supporting actress winners to cry in their speech and odds are available at 4/5 for neither of them to shed a tear at all.

Winners only have 45 seconds to make their acceptance speech and Sky Bet is giving even money that a winner’s speech is cut short by the orchestra. They are offering 10/1 that a speech will be a simple ‘thank you!’

Competing former husband and wife ‘Avatar’ director James Cameron and ‘The Hurt Locker’ director Kathryn Bigelow, are battling for the Best Picture award and Sky bet offer 17/1 that they’ll be declared joint winners of any award.

Sky bet is offering odds at 12/1 for any Oscar winner to repeat Liam Gallagher style Brit Awards stunt and hand their statuette to an audience member. They also offer 20/1 that a streaker will run on stage.

Sky Bet’s Oscars betting expert Helen Jacob said: “People love to bet on who will blub at the Oscars and we’re offering a whole host of special bets to keep the interest of all those night owls staying up to watch Sunday’s ceremony.”

Mayweather vs. Mosley Odds

Floyd Mayweather is to fight Shane Mosley on 1st May in Las Vegas. Sky bet has seen some early support for ‘pretty boy’ to win on points forcing the online sportsbook to cut odds from 7/4 to 6/4.

Sky Bet make the undefeated Mayweather the favourite at 4/11, with Mosley, who hasn’t fought since last January with his controversial stoppage victory over Antonio Margarito is the 2/1 outsider. The draw is priced at 33/1.

Sky Bet’s boxing betting spokesman Scott Springgay said: “This fight promises to be a cracker and even though Mosley hasn’t fought for over a year this should turn out to be one of the hardest fights of Mayweather’s career.

“Defensively, Mayweather is superb and we have already seen plenty of money for him to win on points even at this early stage. Both will have a point to prove and I can see this fight being stopped around the late rounds, probably with the younger Mayweather’s fitness counting and forcing the referee to stop the fight.”

Betting odds after Jonathan Ross leaves the BBC

It was announced yesterday that one of the highest paid stars will be leaving the BBC after 13 years and there is a lot of speculation about what the daring star will do next.

Sky Bet have opened a betting market on the controversial TV star, offering a price of 10/1 that Ross will become a presenter on the X-Factor and 20/1 that he joins Britain’s Got Talent. A price of 10/1 is available that Ross will make the same move as good friend Russell Brand and head to America to make a film.

Other odds on Jonathon Ross’ future include what channel he will go to next with a price of 10/11 that he will move to ITV and 9/4 that he returns to Channel 4 where he began his career with his first late night show, “The Last Resort”, and Sky are backed at 11/4.

It seems that after yesterday’s news it was leaked that Graham Norton has been given Jonathan Ross’s slot on BBC and Sky Bet are offering a price of 1/3 that Norton takes over Ross’ Friday night chat show.

A spokeswoman from Sky Bet explained, “Mark Kermode and Graham Norton look to be the obvious choice to fill Ross’ shoes in the chat show and film show department but the race to fill his radio show hot seat looks a lot more open.”

England vs South Africa 3rd ODI preview

England’s cricketers head into the 3rd one day international against South Africa in Cape Town with the news that Nottinghamshire fast bowler Stuart Broad will be fit to play.

England went 1-0 up in the five match series after winning the 2nd one day international at Centurion last Sunday. The 1st ODI at the Wanderers was cancelled due to heavy rain.

The seven wicket victory by Paul Collingwood’s men was rather impressive and will provide the tourists with plenty of confidence and belief for the rest of the series.

Broad who injured his shoulder in a practice match missed the two Twenty20 matches against the South African’s and the first two ODI’S. The bowler’s return will be a massive boost to England as he has impressive figures and is the highest in the one day world rankings out of all of England’s, bowlers.

Broad told BBC Sport “The shoulder’s pretty much 100%… and it’s just about pushing for selection now”. “It’s been frustrating on a personal note because you always want to play and when you’re missing matches it’s tough to watch, but it’s been great to see how well the boys have played.

“I don’t think injuries are ever a good thing but it has given me a chance to put a lot of hours in in the gym and get very strong.”

England is also hopeful that fast bowler James Anderson will have recovered in time from a minor knee injury to partner Broad in the attack.

England is 6/4 to win with Boylesports and William Hill while South Africa is 8/15.

X-Factor’s Jedward are favourite to get a number 1 hit!

This year’s X-Factor has caused a lot of commotion as the public continue to support John and Edward Grimes while judge and producer Simon Cowell is outraged that they are still in the competition. As the reality TV show moves closer to the final, the twins known as ‘Jedward’ look like they are set to head to the end! It seems that the more they are criticised on the show, the more support they are gaining from the public!

Louis Walsh is the mentor of the groups and is holding on to the twins with all he has as they are his last act in the competition, but if bookies odds are anything to go by, he looks as though he will be safe for a couple of weeks yet!

Not only are bookies predicting the the pair will go all the way, but they are looking beyond that and Ladbrokes are offering odds as short as 9/4 that they will have a number one single next year. The cheeky brothers were once as long as 150/1 to have a Christmas number one but have had their odds slashed to a short price of 7/1.

A spokesman from Ladbrokes explained, “Anything is possible given the level of public support for Jedward”, and with odds of 7/1 to win the show it seems that they could be in with a chance of being crowned the X-Factor winner 2009!

Ladbrokes are pricing Olly Murs as favourite to win the show at 5/2, followed by second favourite Joe McElderry. Lloyd Daniels is favourite to go this week with a price of 11/8.

Peter Crouch and David Beckham are set for the World Cup

Everyone awaits Fabio Capello’s finalised decision of who he thinks will give England a chance of winning the World Cup in 2010. It appears that England’s 3-0 win over Belarus has helped him on his way as there were several players that really shined through and bookies are becoming more certain that they know who is going to be in the line up.

In particular, after England’s last game, Sky Bet decided it was necessary to re think their odds. One player in particular who benefited from this was Peter Crouch who had his odds shortened dramatically from 4/6 to 1/3 after scoring 2 goals for his country.

A spokesperson from Sky Bet explained, “Crouch’s impressive display last night now probably puts him ahead of the likes of Gabby Agbonlahor and Carlton Cole. As for Beckham, we were already a short price about him making the squad and barring injury it seems very unlikely that he will miss out.”

Although David Beckham has always been at the top of the picking list, there was worry that in the recent years he has strayed to other clubs and may not be ‘fit’ for England, but after being awarded man-of-the-match he is now priced at 2/7.

Odds for the use of sin bins during the world cup

Jack Warner, Vice President of Fifa, has warned that the football governing body will clamp down on those players who dive and fake injuries during the 2010 World cup finals In South Africa. With this is mind sky bet is offering 5/1 that rugby style sin bins are used during the games.

It has been revealed by Warner that Fifa have formed a task force to discuss the introduction of sin bins for offending players. However, sky bet are backing the revolutionary moved not to be made in time for the world cup at 1/9.

The Vice President was not very complimentary with regards to England’s bid for the 2018 World cup, claiming that at the moment England would be a runner up for the world cup hosting race.

However England still remain as Sky bet’s favourite to host the 208 event with odds in at 11/10 with Portugal and Spain coming in as second favourites at 3/1.
