An article in eGaming Review has revealed that award winning bookies Ladbrokes has gone live with their new iPhone betting application. With the number of people with iPhones rapidly increasing with a reported 1.5 million iPhone and iPod Touch users in the UK, it would appear that this is the perfect time to launch the new Mfuse application!

It is a fantastic way for punters to have easy and convenient access to all their betting needs, including all betting markets as well as in-play and of course, all the latest odds and results on sports.

Showing his excitement for the new product, Ladbrokes managing director explained, “Mobile betting and gaming will be a key driver of growth in the sector in the next few years – the Ladbrokes iPhone application is another step forward in making mobile betting and gaming easier to access.”

A spokesman from Mfuse went on to say, “Our new web apps will provide the iPhone community with a host of betting and gaming application which are unavailable through the current App Store.”

This innovative advance in technology will prove highly beneficial to the betting market allowing punters to explore the betting world from wherever they are, as well as offering the companies a new reach to attract new customers to their brand.

Paddy Power supply new mobile sportsbook.

With technology rapidly developing and with competition offering their services to mobile customers, it seems like no better time for Paddy Power to expand into the mobile market.

An article in eGaming Review reported that Paddy Power has chosen Sweden’s Mobenga mobile to be the phone to provide a betting section which will be built in to offer customers updates and unique features on televises sports.

The applications follows shortly after the iPhone has released a sportsbook application and only time will tell how successful Paddy Power will be from this development. The application will also help keen punters use a simple interface to link directly to their favourite sporting events.

A spokesman from Paddy Power’s mobile team explained, “We are seeing more PC customers using our mobile application or mobile website due to the convenience offered by those services. We continually strive to extend and improve our mobile services so that anything a customer needs is just a finger tap away.”

We wish the Irish bookie good luck on its new venture!

England vs South Africa 3rd ODI preview

England’s cricketers head into the 3rd one day international against South Africa in Cape Town with the news that Nottinghamshire fast bowler Stuart Broad will be fit to play.

England went 1-0 up in the five match series after winning the 2nd one day international at Centurion last Sunday. The 1st ODI at the Wanderers was cancelled due to heavy rain.

The seven wicket victory by Paul Collingwood’s men was rather impressive and will provide the tourists with plenty of confidence and belief for the rest of the series.

Broad who injured his shoulder in a practice match missed the two Twenty20 matches against the South African’s and the first two ODI’S. The bowler’s return will be a massive boost to England as he has impressive figures and is the highest in the one day world rankings out of all of England’s, bowlers.

Broad told BBC Sport “The shoulder’s pretty much 100%… and it’s just about pushing for selection now”. “It’s been frustrating on a personal note because you always want to play and when you’re missing matches it’s tough to watch, but it’s been great to see how well the boys have played.

“I don’t think injuries are ever a good thing but it has given me a chance to put a lot of hours in in the gym and get very strong.”

England is also hopeful that fast bowler James Anderson will have recovered in time from a minor knee injury to partner Broad in the attack.

England is 6/4 to win with Boylesports and William Hill while South Africa is 8/15.

X-Factor’s Jedward are favourite to get a number 1 hit!

This year’s X-Factor has caused a lot of commotion as the public continue to support John and Edward Grimes while judge and producer Simon Cowell is outraged that they are still in the competition. As the reality TV show moves closer to the final, the twins known as ‘Jedward’ look like they are set to head to the end! It seems that the more they are criticised on the show, the more support they are gaining from the public!

Louis Walsh is the mentor of the groups and is holding on to the twins with all he has as they are his last act in the competition, but if bookies odds are anything to go by, he looks as though he will be safe for a couple of weeks yet!

Not only are bookies predicting the the pair will go all the way, but they are looking beyond that and Ladbrokes are offering odds as short as 9/4 that they will have a number one single next year. The cheeky brothers were once as long as 150/1 to have a Christmas number one but have had their odds slashed to a short price of 7/1.

A spokesman from Ladbrokes explained, “Anything is possible given the level of public support for Jedward”, and with odds of 7/1 to win the show it seems that they could be in with a chance of being crowned the X-Factor winner 2009!

Ladbrokes are pricing Olly Murs as favourite to win the show at 5/2, followed by second favourite Joe McElderry. Lloyd Daniels is favourite to go this week with a price of 11/8.

Peter Crouch and David Beckham are set for the World Cup

Everyone awaits Fabio Capello’s finalised decision of who he thinks will give England a chance of winning the World Cup in 2010. It appears that England’s 3-0 win over Belarus has helped him on his way as there were several players that really shined through and bookies are becoming more certain that they know who is going to be in the line up.

In particular, after England’s last game, Sky Bet decided it was necessary to re think their odds. One player in particular who benefited from this was Peter Crouch who had his odds shortened dramatically from 4/6 to 1/3 after scoring 2 goals for his country.

A spokesperson from Sky Bet explained, “Crouch’s impressive display last night now probably puts him ahead of the likes of Gabby Agbonlahor and Carlton Cole. As for Beckham, we were already a short price about him making the squad and barring injury it seems very unlikely that he will miss out.”

Although David Beckham has always been at the top of the picking list, there was worry that in the recent years he has strayed to other clubs and may not be ‘fit’ for England, but after being awarded man-of-the-match he is now priced at 2/7.

Odds for the use of sin bins during the world cup

Jack Warner, Vice President of Fifa, has warned that the football governing body will clamp down on those players who dive and fake injuries during the 2010 World cup finals In South Africa. With this is mind sky bet is offering 5/1 that rugby style sin bins are used during the games.

It has been revealed by Warner that Fifa have formed a task force to discuss the introduction of sin bins for offending players. However, sky bet are backing the revolutionary moved not to be made in time for the world cup at 1/9.

The Vice President was not very complimentary with regards to England’s bid for the 2018 World cup, claiming that at the moment England would be a runner up for the world cup hosting race.

However England still remain as Sky bet’s favourite to host the 208 event with odds in at 11/10 with Portugal and Spain coming in as second favourites at 3/1.

Cheryl Cole is set to top the charts

As with any band, Girls Aloud band mates Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle, have both decided to take the risk and release solo songs with albums on the way. However, with previous bands who have tried to do this, there has always been a very limited success rate so it seems that Paddy Power are offering odds of which one will wow the fans.

Girls Aloud’s break from recording has meant that Cheryl and Nadine will enter the charts at the same time, going head to head with their solo albums. It appears that both will be successful because of their fans admiration, but Cheryl Cole looks set to perform better in the charts and can be backed at 8/11 to outsell Nadine with Nadine at evens to outsell Cheryl with Paddy Power.

Betting odds for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2009

The latest betting in novelty betting is offering odds on those likely to win BBC Sports Personality of the Year. The two current favourites are Jenson Button and Jessica Ennis but bookies are giving Button the benefit of the doubt offering slightly shorter odds for him to win the Sports Personality Award 2009. Paddy Power is giving him a price of 13/2 whilst Ennis follows closely behind at 11/5. Bookies reckon that if Button is able to steal the F1 Drivers Championship (click here for the latest news and odds for the Grand Prix 2009) then his odds to win the award will be slashed dramatically, whilst rival Lewis Hamilton doesn’t seem in with much of a chance and can be backed at 100/1 with Boylesports.

Other contenders for the award include the Cricket heroes that won the ashes for us this year. After a very successful result it seems that we may see a cricketer take the title and Andrew Flintoff is the favourite out of the bunch and can be backed at 8/1 with Coral. Captain of the team, Andrew Strauss, carries slightly longer odds and is backed at 10/1 with Boylesports.

Other names that are up for the award are the likes of Andy Murray who is backed at 33/1 with Coral, as well as Amir Kahn at slightly longer odds of 66/1.

The European Masters starts on Thursday at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland and a strong line up from Europe will start competing for a 2010 Ryder cup place at Celtic Manor.

The tournament will feature top players like Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Francesco Molinari, Graeme McDowell, Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy.

Victory for McIIroy will see him climb to the top of the European rankings ahead of Paul Casey and Martin Kaymer for the first time in his career. Last year McIIroy finished as the tournament runner-up after losing a play off to Jean-Francois Lucquin from France so he will be aiming to go one further this time round.

The 20 year old from Northern Ireland admitted that he suffered an injury fright whilst moving properties. McIIroy told Sky Sports “I managed to slice a chunk out of my finger, third one on the left hand.

“I was getting my keys out of my pocket to slice open a box, but sliced my finger instead.

“Anyway the good news is that it’s healing well. I’ve been out practising today and it feels fine.”

McIIroy believes that he has learnt from his narrow defeat last year and is an improved player overall. He lead by four shots heading into the final round and missed a putt for victory on the final green.

I feel that I’m a better player than I was last year and I’ve gained a lot of experience, so I’d like to think I’d go very close,” he commented.
